Dr. Kelsey Kendall was born and raised in Eden, NC. She attended Appalachian State University, graduating with a B.S. in biology in 2011. She then attended The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. After graduation she moved to Western New York with her vet school sweetheart, now husband, to a mixed animal practice where she focused mainly on small animals and dairy cows. After 15 months of gaining experience up North and deciding to focus on small animal medicine her and her husband came back to the South by way of Atlanta, GA to be closer to family and to escape the cold! After much consideration, she and Dr. Mac decided to attain their dream of practice ownership by moving to the Charlotte metro area and purchasing West Shore Animal Hospital in January of 2019.
Her interests include small animal internal medicine, ophthalmology, and will never lose her love for cows! Dr. Kendall enjoys traveling, playing volleyball and softball, spending time with family and boating. Their house is full of many fur babies including their three dogs Zeke, Angel and Theo, their three cats Max, Milly and Willy, and their bunny Bunnicula.
Dr. James Mac Kendall was born and raised in the metro Detroit area before attending Michigan State University. He graduated with a B.S. in Animal Science in 2010. From there he worked in the automotive field operating an electrocoating system for the likes of GM, Ford, and Chrysler among others. He then attended The University of Tennessee, graduating with his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. Upon graduation, he spent time practicing small animal medicine in Western New York and Atlanta, GA before purchasing West Shore Animal Hospital.
Mac's professional interests include dermatology, surgery, and ophthalmology. In his free time he enjoys watching/attending Detroit and MSU sporting events, music festivals, playing hockey and baseball, and spending time on his boat with his wife Kelsey.
Dr. John McLean was born and raised in Lincolnton, North Carolina. As an only child, he always had cats and dogs growing up as companions, sort of like surrogates for siblings. While working on his Eagle Scout merit badge prerequisite, he mentored at a local animal hospital. With that experience, combined with his love for animals, he realized veterinary medicine would be an ideal career choice.
He attended Lincolnton High School and UNC Chapel Hill, where he earned a B.A. in Chemistry. He then attended NC State and earned a B.S. in Zoology. Subsequently, he attended NC State College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1988.
Dr. McLean has been practicing companion animal medicine and surgery exclusively for over 25 years.
He recently returned home from practicing in Henderson, North Carolina to attend to his elderly parents. He currently resides in Lowesville.
He is the proud father to three children: a daughter, Cameron; and two sons, Cody, and Julian. He is also a proud grandpa to his grandson, Trenton. He is also the father to several furry critters: Willie, a Chihuahua; and two cats, Stewy and Clarise.
His hobbies include: Panthers football, Carolina basketball, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his children.
Patti A.Certified Master Groomer
Patti hails from Boston originally, was raised in California, met her husband, Clayton, a native North Carolinian, and joined him here. She graduated from grooming school in 1977 and would never think of doing anything else! She also is certified in dog obedience training. She shares her home with Alice, a cattle dog mix, Gibson, a retriever mix, and Summer, a loving calico cat. Patti is the proud “Grammy” of Talon, Dominick, Emma and Robbie, who are the children of Patti’s twin daughters. Patti also has a grown son who attends school in California.
Lexie R.Hospital Manager
Lexie joined West Shore Animal Hospital’s team in June 2009. Lexie was born and raised in Oswego, NY and moved to the area in 2008. She has a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Zoology and an M.S. in Human Service. Her animal experience includes working for 3 years as an outdoor bird keeper and penguin trainer at Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, NY. Lexie and her husband, Rob live in Denver with their sons, Ethan and Aiden, and their three rescues; Amos, a golden retriever mix, Penelope ('P'), a lab mix, and Nabisco ('Squishy'), a frisky feline, who actually believes he is a small dog.
Danielle joined West Shore Animal Hospital as a receptionist in October 2013. She was born and raised in Orlando, Florida. Danielle graduated from High Point University with a B.A. in Communications- Journalism and a Minor in Business Administration. She currently lives in Mount Holly with her husband, Kevin, and their two dogs, Reese, and Mollie. In her spare time, she likes to relax at home and spend time with her husband and fur babies.
Paige joined our team at West Shore Animal Hospital in October 2016. She is one of our smiling receptionists. Paige was born and raised in Stanley, NC but currently resides in Dallas, NC with her husband Josh, their son, Easton and three dogs: Opie, Remy, and Keno. Before coming to West Shore Animal Hospital, Paige worked in the moving/rental industry. When Paige is not working at the front desk, she enjoys spending time with her family, friends and fur babies.
Megan joined our team in February 2019. She is a native of Lincoln County and graduated from East Lincoln High School. She has always loved anything in the medical field and animals especially, so she is at the perfect place here at West Shore. She and her husband Rocky are proud parents of 5 children ( Seth, 21; Sierra, 18; Cade, 15; Cael, 12; and Carlee, 7. Their brood also includes fur babies, Olde English Bulldogges, Keiko and Kaia; a Porkie, Holland; a hedgehog, Pepe; and an Oscar Fish, Oscar de la Cinco. Outside of the constant shenanigans at home, she enjoys watching her kids play sports, spending time with her family, and working outdoors.
Brittany joined our team in March 2016 as one of our friendly front desk receptionists and has transitioned into one of our veterinary assistants. She was born in West Virginia, but raised in Denver, North Carolina. During high school and college, she focused on medical and business courses and before joining our team, she worked as a surgical technologist. She lives in Denver with her husband, Dylan and their dog, Gaffney. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors, relaxing and spending time with her family and friends.
Becky joined West Shore Animal Hospital in September 2014. She is originally from Rock Hill, South Carolina. Becky attended the University of South Carolina for two years and then graduated from Midlands Technical College with a degree in health science. She started working in the veterinary field in 2008. She has worked in both small animal hospitals and in emergency/specialty hospitals. Becky currently lives in Newton, North Carolina with her husband, Matthew, their daughter, Sydney and their canine children, Gunner, Griffon, Edna and Crusty and feline children, Steve and Girl. When Becky is not working at the hospital, she enjoys sporting events, whether it be attending events or watching them on TV, concerts and going on vacation!
Kristy was born and raised in Denver, North Carolina. She joined our team in April 2013 as a veterinary assistant. Kristy graduated from the University of North Carolina Wilmington with a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.S. in Accountancy. She currently lives in Iron Station with her husband Jay, several dogs, cats, horses, a cow, donkey, and a goat. She enjoys spending her free time riding horses and playing with all her fur babies.
Janice joined our West Shore team in October of 2015. She has a degree in Business Communications and after working in customer service for over 20 years, she decided to she wanted to do what she loved best, working with animals. Animals have always been her first love, since the day her Dad brought home her first bottle fed puppy that was abandoned when its mother had been hit by a car. She loves nurturing animals. In Janice’s time off, you can find her training with her German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois. She has two German Shepherds in her home, Leyland and Mylon, and two Belgian Malinois, Dutch and Danica. These four do have to compete in her home with her three smaller dogs, Jia, Sid and Rosie. They are a lot of work, but completely worth it. Mylon is the special one of the household; she was diagnosed with cancer three years ago and is still going strong.
Hi! My name is Sarah and I have been at West Shore since 2013. I started out as a kennel assistant. I soon found out that I wanted to become a veterinary technician and have worked in that capacity since 2017. I am originally from Michigan, but moved to North Carolina when I was less than a year old so you can consider me a North Carolinian! In my free time outside of work I continue my love for animals with my hobby of horseback riding. I have 3 horses, a chug (Chihuahua-Pug Mix) Pedro, and 4 cats.
Kristy was born and raised in New Boston, MI. Kristy made the move to North Carolina in 2015 with her husband Greg, 2 children (Cole and Kensleigh), Jäger a German Shorthaired Pointer, and guinea pig Mr. Business. She joined our team in January 2019. She enjoys spending time with her family, going to concerts with her husband, traveling, and spending time out on the water.
Susan joined the West Shore team in May of 2019. She has lived in Charlotte, NC; Miami, FL; and Stanley, NC. She graduated from Liberty University with an Associate in Arts degree in General Education. Her continuing education includes Gaston College Veterinary Technology program and is a licensed Wildlife Rehabilitator. She currently resides in Stanley with her husband Marlin, son Kyle, and bonus daughter Cheyenne. Her free time is spent painting, sewing, and building fish ponds. She shares her home with 30 birds, 9 dogs, 2 cats, and a lot of chickens!

I am originally from Bethany, NC; and I moved here in December, 2012. I currently attend East Lincoln High School. I have five siblings, a dog named Sassy, a cat named Jacky, and a fish named Stanley. My dream is to attend North Carolina State University to become a veterinarian. My life goal is to have a veterinary hospital and run an animal shelter next door. I have had a connection with animals since I was a young child. In my free time I enjoy going to the beach and creating artwork.
